Joy Cometh FC kicked off their 2021 Nigerian National League campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over Gateway United FC on Sunday at the Agege Township Stadium.

Post-match, head coach of the team Kazeem Alabi spoke to Sports247.

He admitted that it was an intense game and further explained his tactical implementations to get a result from the encounter.

“It was a sweet victory. Playing your first match at home you know you are playing under intense pressure. It was an intense match.” Alabi said.

The experienced coach also shed light on the tactics he deployed for his team to come out on top.

“In the first half we never really played to our plan because I have seen them play before and I know where to attack them.

“They are very good on the wings so I try to block it that’s why you see that my midfielders were not playing. They were doing a lot of marking, putting pressure.

Ewe pointed out that the opposition had a flawed backline which his players exploited.

“I know that they have a deficiency at the back. And you can see that’s why we scored those goals with square play and heading.

“Those are the things we have been practicing in training and it really works for us. I am very happy,” he said.
