Gateway United FC have concluded plans to play against NPFL side Sunshine Stars and Osun United during their pre-season tour starting from Sunday 3rd March 2019 to Tuesday 5th March, 2019.
The team will hit the road early on Sunday and face Sunshine Stars FC at Akure Township stadium in the evening, then travel to Osogbo to take on Osun United on Monday.
The tour, according to Head Coach Akeem Busari, is an avenue to test the strength of his players against top and quality sides as well as assess their preparedness ahead of the much anticipated NNL season.
“We are putting no stone unturned in ensuring that our players are well fine-tuned and poised to take the season by the scruff of the neck. To secure the elusive topflight ticket, adequate preparation is required and we have not faltered in this aspect. Kudos to the management of Gateway United for making this happen”, he said.
“Having played non league clubs with huge victories. Top friendlies of this nature are also needed for proper assessment of our players. So we expect to have good games against the aforementioned teams” he concluded.
Acting General Manager Mr Niyi Soleye also alluded to coach Busari’s stance saying all hands are on deck to play more quality friendlies before the commencement of the league.
