No goals target for new NPFL season – Udoh

Nigeria Professional Football League’s (NPFL) most successful striker, Mfon Udoh has revealed his intentions to work hard and help his team Akwa United secure an NPFL trophy, also appreciating the expertise of his new Head coach, John Obuh.

Mfon Udoh who became the first player in the history of NPFL to win the league top scorer award twice, after scoring 10 goals to finish as joint-highest goalscorer of the 18/19 abridged season in a chat with brila.net described the team’s preseason camp in Rivers state as tough and the result as encouraging, believing that it will improve the teams performance when the season resumes.

 

The goal king who scored the lone goal against Warri Wolves in preseason said he does not have a personal target for the 19/20 NPFL regular season but urges the fans to expect a good campaign from the team.

 

Mfon Udoh however called for games to be televised live, better officiating, improved welfare package and good pay as a way to improve the league and reduce the rate of players dumping the NPFL for foreign leagues.

 

The former Enyimba captain who is yet to play outside the shores of Nigeria revealed his plans to play in Europe soonest after 8-9years in the NPFL.
