No hard feelings towards Super Falcons’ boss over AWCON Snub – Nwabouku

Rivers Angel’s Evelyn Nwabouku says she’s disappointed by the decision of Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby to omit her from the 2018 AWCON provisional squad.

Nwabouku who has struggled with injuries in recent months was instrumental to the Jewels of Rivers winning the 2018 Women Aiteo Cup, scoring four times from the midfield position and named September player of the month,  the form that was considered not good enough to earn her a call-up into the Super Falcons.

“I so much excited much. Winning the Federation Cup is so special to me,” Nwabouku told reporters.

“Special because I got back stronger from a bad injury to becoming a champion again. I lost so much due to it. Lost my place in the national team, lost my contract with the French team and many more but in all, I give glory to God because many that passed through this didn’t recover.

“I have scored four goals this season and just won the Nigeria Women Premier League Player of the Month for September. All these achievements are a reflection of my strong return to fitness. I am grateful to God for everything.

“Honestly, I didn’t feel good about [my non-invitation to the Super Falcons for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations] because I worked very hard to bounce back from my injury, knowing fully well that we have a tournament in Ghana.

“I have really been working on myself but still wasn’t considered good enough but it’s all good as God knows best. I wouldn’t know why I was not invited as only the coaches know best but I do not hold any grudge against the coach Thomas Dennerby. I wish them all the best.” she concluded.

Nwabouku Captained the Super Falcons to AWCON victory in Namibia (2014) but missed out in the 2016 edition in Cameroon due to a serious injury.
