No Shane or Alade No Problem! D’Tigers enter World Cup qualifiers Mode on a High

D’Tigers Head Coach, Alex Nwora, is looking past the unavailability of Afrobasket winning duo, Lawal Olaseni and Alade Aminu, for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers as his team made light work of Benin Republic in a warm-up exhibition game on Wednesday.

D’Tigers recorded a 105-42 points blow out against the Beninoise side, who will not be playing in the qualifiers.

The Nigerian side rounded off their tune up games in Lagos after back to back games against Ivory Coast in Abidjan.

‘Shane’ and Aminu were granted the leave of absence by the Federation, although initially invited for the second phase of the World Cup qualifiers.

Another returnee, Ben Uzoh joined up with the rest of the team in Lagos on Tuesday. Bball Naija reported the guard had arrived the Country and was in camp on the eve of the Beni Republic game.

Meanwhile, in Wednesday’s game, Four D’Tigers players posted double figures; Keith Omoerah recorded a team high 29 points, while Caleb Agada scored 24 points, Tosin Mehinti added 17 points and Bryant Mbamalu chipped in 12 points.

The world cup qualifiers resume later this month and Nigeria will get its campaign under way against Uganda, Rwanda and Mali on June 29, June 30 and July 1 respectively.
