Wilfred Zaha’s heroics against Arsenal at last weekend’s EPL match at Selhurst Park has made him a target for the Terrible ones among the Gunners, who have since been threatening the Ivorian and his family.
Arsenal had been on an 11 match winning run, and looked like they could wrap up the three points against the Eagles when Zaha was tripped by Granit Xhaka in the box.
Luka Milivojevic stepped forward and duly tucked the penalty away as the hosts held on to earn a point and end the Ws for Unai Emery’s men.
It did seem though that the travelling fans did not like how easily the Ivory Coast International went to ground and after the game, Zaha revealed he had been subjected to racist slurs and some people had also been wishing death on his family
“For all the people taking it one step further and being racist and wishing death on my family, I wish you and your families the best too,” he said according to BBC Sport.
“My life is still very good despite your hate.”
After the match, Xhaka said in a post-match television interview he thought the incident had been a “clear penalty”.
