Notorious kidnap kingpin ' Dreaded Dagboru' killed by Police

A suspected notorious kidnap kingpin , Sunday ( aka) Dreaded Dagboru has been killed during a gun battle with the Lagos State Police Command .

Two of his alleged gang members described by the police as deadly were arrested after the gun duel .

Police said Ebi , Ajele , and their leader who have been terrorising other western state for over a period of time had sneaked into Lagos with the intention of abducting some prominent persons for ransom but met their Waterloo.

Commissioner of Police Lagos State Police Command , Imohini Edgal, who paraded the suspects yesterday at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, said the suspects were arrested based on credible intelligence received from members of the public about the movement of the gang at Ojo area of the state.

He said when he got information that the notorious gang had entered Lagos ,and directed a team of detectives to go after the hoodlums.

According to him , investigation by the team revealed that the kidnappers had sneaked into the State and were planning to kidnap some notable persons in Iba area of Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State.

“Consequently, the Squad led by the Commander anti kidnapping Squad swung into action , tapping into the intelligence resource of the Command. They were able to locate them in their hideouts at Imota, Ikorodu on December 10 .

“However, when the hoodlums sighted the approaching operatives , they opened fire on them and the Police replied them .During the exchange of fire, Sunday (a.k.a) Dreaded Dagboru was gunned down while two others , Ebi and Ajele of Arogbo, Ose-Odo, Ondo State were apprehended.

Hr said one locally made double barrel pistol, one expended cartridge and three live cartridges were recovered from the gang while concerted effort was being made to arrest other gang members on the run and on completion of investigation, the suspects would be charged to court.
