NPFL transfer window to close December 20

The 2018 transfer window in NPFL will be shut by December 20, according to the Manager of the NFF Transfer Matching System, Nasiru Jibril.

The current transfer window in Nigeria was declared opened October 20 and Clubs participating in 2018/2019 NPFL season which kick-off in November are expected to do their transfer business within the stipulated period of time.

The official told thenff.com on Tuesday that the window will be reopened in January to allow clubs and to players to make a certain decision regarding movements.

“The window for transfer of players opened on October 20, and it will close on December. That is the first window for the 2018/2019 Season. There will be a second window, as from 30th January 2019 until 28th February 2019.

“It is only within these periods that players can be registered/transferred locally, and from other countries to Nigeria.

However, players are free to move from Nigeria to other countries as long as the windows in those countries are open,” Jibril told thenff.com.

Mr. Jubril, However, revealed that players who are out of contract or have earned up to five caps for the country will be allowed to move at any point in time.

“Internationally, an exception is granted to professional players who are out of contract before the window must have closed or before the window opens for registration.

“Locally, an exception is granted by the League Management Company to players who have featured for any of the National Teams, with no less than five caps.

These players can be transferred/registered at any point in time on a special request,” he concluded.
