Obuh urges Nigerian clubs to emulate Enyimba

Enyimba is the model club for teams in Nigeria and can show others how to build a solid structure and strong legacy, says Akwa United Technical Adviser John Obuh.

The two times Champions League winners and 8-time NPFL champions have, in spite of the prevailing challenges in the league, consistently raised the bar, Obuh argues.

“Enyimba has proved over time that they have the experience to manage a football club; qualifying for continental football and so on, I actually think it’s something we would have to go find out how do they do it,” the former U20 Coach told brila.net.

“Enyimba is in the same competition with the rest of Nigeria, yet, they’re waxing strong on the continent for Nigeria.

“So, I think it’s something that has to do with managerial ability; trying to focus and pay more attention to the quality of players you have, because most times you don’t have top quality players on ground.

“You’ll have a lot of recruitment to do, but if there are quality players, then you want them to help bolster the squad for competitions and I think, that’s the secret behind the team’s success.”
