Super Eagles Technical adviser, Gernot Rohr is sweating over the fitness of his most in-form striker, Odion Ighalo after the player was carried off in Changchun Yatai Wednesday’s Chinese Super League match.
Ighalo suffered a knock 17 minutes into the match against Tianjin Quanjian, he was stretched off and did not return to the match.
The club is yet to make a statement on the extent of the injury, but the forward’s participation in Nigeria’s 2019 AFCON qualifying match against South Africa hangs in the balance.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles play away to Bafana Bafana on November 17 in Johannesburg with the team seeking a win that could also secure them qualification for next year’s Afcon.
So far, Ighalo is the top scorer in the qualifiers with 6 goals to his name.
