Odita bows out,Olabulo takes over as CRAN President

• I will run an all-inclusive government – Olabulo

The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), has elected new executives to run the affairs of the association.

The new executive members are Mr. Lekan Olabulo of the Tribune Newspaper as the president; Mrs. Evelyn Usman of the Vanguard Newspapers, Vice President, and Mr. Niran Odufayo of Radio Nigeria, General Secretary.
Other new members are; Mrs. Chiemelie Ezeobi, of Thisdaus Newspapers as Treasurer; Ismaila Oguntade of Leadership Newspapers, financial secretary; Adaobi Obiechina, NTA as Assistant Secretary and Mr. Taiwo Jimoh of the New Telegraph Newspapers as PRO/Auditor.

In a state signed by the General Secretary of the Association, Mr. Niran Odufayo, he said:” The executive members emerged following the election held on May 6, 2022, which was conducted by the Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists led by its Chairman, Mr. Leye Ajayi, and other executive members of the council.
“In his inaugural speech, the newly elected president, Mr. Lekan Olabulo, promised to facilitate both local and international training for members to sharpen their skills to be at par with trending social media devices for better performance.

“He said the association would contribute to national security issues by always drawing attention to the relevant authorities and suggesting solutions to security problems.
“Since the welfare of every organization is one of the key contributors to its successes, he noted that members would enjoy the best under his tenure, particularly in the area of assisting those with health challenges.
“Mr. Olabulo assured the members that the secretariat of CRAN, which is in a dilapidated state, will be given a facelift during his administration.

“He, however, enjoined those who lost in the election to join his team to work together for the uplift of the association.

“On the conduct of the polls, the CRAN president congratulated the electoral committee headed by Mr. Frank Oshanughor for the free, fair, and credible exercise”.

Olabulo took over from Odita Sunday, who ran the affairs of the association for six years. During his time, Odita brought many innovations and took the association to a new level. Odita left the association united and was given a meritorious service certificate for leading the association well.

However, Olabulo has, however, called on everyone to join his team to move the association to a new level,” I see the election as no victor, no vanquish. I will not victimize anyone. The victory is ours. Let’s join hands and move the association forward. I am everybody’s president. I thank the NUJ Chairman, Lagos Council, and his team for conducting a credible election. I thank the elders of CRAN, past presidents of the association who were present, and Me. Biyi Adegoroye, Mr. Dipo Kehinde, Mr. Sesan Olufowobi, and Comrade Christopher Oji. I also thank the immediate past president, Mr. Odita Sunday for his leadership quality and other members of the great association. I want to thank those who did not make it during the election and appreciate their sportsmanship spirit as they embraced the result of the election without any form of protest. I will run an all-inclusive government and will not victimize anyone, because, with the massive support and votes given to me, I know that I am people’s choice and I will reciprocate. Above all, I entrust the association in the hands of God. Let him take control of the association and direct us on how to lead”.
