Omoyele’s brace helps Enyimba open up six point lead on NPFL table

Enyimba Int’l Football Club extended their lead on the table of 2020-2021 Nigeria professional football after beating Plateau United Football Club 2-1 on Saturday.

 

The People’s Elephant enjoyed plenty of the ball and it was surprising when they took the lead in the 27th minutes.

 

Summer signing Tosin Omoyele scored the goal from a perfect corner taken by Anayo Iwuala.

 

Omoyele scored his second of the game against his former side three minutes later, again Iwuala it was Anayo Iwuala with the final pass to the striker.

 

Plateau United stepped up their game in the second half as coach Abdul Maikaba made some changes to his side.

 

Enyimba almost added the third with their first chance of the half after  Austin Oladapo played the ball into the channel for Sadiq Abubakar who squares for a very free Anayo Iwuala. The winger’s effort comes off the base of the post.

 

Plateau United finally got their reward for improved second-half performance in the 76th minutes as Moses Effiong scored their consolatory goal.

 

Effiong gets his head on the free-kick from Ndala and directs it past John Noble in goal for Enyimba of Aba.

 

The goal however set up a nervy finish to the game, but Enyimba held on for the maximum points.

 

Enyimba now sitting on top of the log with 21 points from 9 matches, six points more than second-placed Rivers United who has a game in hand.
