Super Eagles duo of Paul Onuachu and Cyriel Dessers were on target in KRC Genk’s defeat to Beerschot in Monday Belgian Jupiler league ash on Monday.
While Paul Onuachu started the game and scored for Genk, Cyriel Dessers was contented with a place on the bench, but he came on in the 65th minute for his compatriot, Onuachu.
Both strikers scored from the penalty, but it wasn’t enough to save Genk from suffering a shocking 5 – 2 defeat.
Beerschot took after just 12 minutes into the game when Raphael Holzhauser converted a nice pass from Jan van den Bergh.
Genk were back on level terms six minutes later, as Paul Onuachu makes it 1 – 1 from the penalty spot, and both teams went into the half time break all square.
Four minutes into the second, Genk’s resistance was broken once again, when Raphael Holzhauser set up Pierre Bourdin to make it 2 – 1.
It went from bad to worse for the visitors minutes later, referee Frederik Geldhof issued a red card to Carlos Cuesta for two bookable offenses.
Beerschot took advantage of their numerical strength to make it 3 – 1, with Raphael Holzhauser grabbing his second of the day.
Genk were reduced to nine men in the 68 minutes after Theo Bongonda issued a straight red card by the referee, but Dessers scored from the penalty spot to make it 3 – 2 two minutes later.
Beerschot killed the hope of come back with two goals from Yan Vorogovsky and Marius Noubissi in the 85 and 90th minutes respectively.
