Justice Rahmon Oshodi of the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja, has convicted and sentenced an apprentice, Nwankwo Ifeanyi, to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl.
Ifeanyi, who was an apprentice in the electronics store of the survivor’s father was sent to prison for the rest of his life after Justice Oshodi found him guilty of the one-count charge of sexual assault brought against him by the state government.
The prosecution had informed the court that the convict on or about June 20, 2017, at 11, Joy Street, Ojo, did commit sexual assault on a four-year-old girl by putting his fingers into her private parts.
The prosecution presented two witnesses to build his case against the convict, while the defence also produced two witnesses, including the defendant’s brother, Nwankwo Nnamdi.
Justice Oshodi, in his judgment, relied on the medical report and testimonies of the witnesses to find the convict guilty as charged.
The judge also upheld the testimony of the first prosecution witness, that the defendant sexually assaulted the victim by dipping his finger into her private parts, as the victim constantly complained of pain and reported to her father that the defendant did it more than once.
“She was taken to three hospitals, after which the defendant was arrested and taken to the Ojo Police Station.”
The victim’s father deals in electronics, while the defendant is his apprentice who lives in the same house with them.
