Kano Pillars defender Bature Yaro has stated that the NPFL side is truly sorry after a disappointing end to their CAF champions league adventure following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in Kumasi.
Yaro speaking in a chat with www.brila.net after the match described Pillars premature exit in CAF’s premiere club competition as one unexpected but still traceable to their mistake from the first leg which they were unable to correct in the second leg in Ghana.
He added that hopefully they will be better representative of Nigeria when next they return to the continent.
“We actually planned for a better outing than we did in the first leg in Kano hoping that everything will go well in Kumasi but as God will have it we got beaten 2-0 despite trying everything in the game.
We played our best, we played our heart out but we are out of the CAF champions league and that wasn’t the promise we promised Kano pillars and Nigerians as a whole. We take it with good faith the way it comes and hopefully we will do better next time.”
