Pogba fires back at Jose Mourinho ahead of Arsenal clash

Reports last weekend claimed Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho launched a scathing attack on Paul Pogba following United’s 2-2 draw at Southampton.

Mourinho called his £89m midfielder a virus, claiming Pogba doesn’t respect the club or his team-mates.

And according to The Sun, Pogba has fired back at Mourinho, telling the Special One to stop blaming him.

The France international feels he’s wrongly being made the scapegoat for United’s downfalls this season.

Manchester United have had a hit and miss season so far, with the Red Devils currently eighth in the Premier League.

Mourinho’s men trail leaders Manchester City by 19 points after just 14 games.

The United boss has been vocal on his side’s struggles, with Mourinho claiming this week he was wrong to target a top four spot by the end of the year.

He said: “I don’t know if I said that but if I used that word it is not what I feel at all.

“We are eight or nine points from fourth so I don’t think we need a  miracle at all.

“We need a good run of results, not to waste points we shouldn’t waste.

“Last week before the Crystal Palace 0-0 I said my hopes and targets were the end of December to be in that position.

“The target has changed but in the sense of let’s try to close the distance as best we can and be very close to these positions.”

The Red Devils are back in action on Wednesday evening against Arsenal.

However, Unai Emery’s side come into the clash on an 18-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
