The Lagos State Police Command has arrested eight suspected members of ‘one million boys’ cult group during initiation exercise at the Ilemba Hausa area of the State. The suspects comprising of six males and two females were picked by Operation Crush outfit of the command.
The Lagos State police public relations officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana, said,” acting on credible Intelligence, operatives of Operation Crush from Ilemba Hausa Police Station led by the divisional police officer, CSP Kazeem Abode, arrested eight suspected members of one million boys confraternity during initiation exercise.
The suspects were arrested at Alado street shibari, where they were being initiated into the cult group by their leader, Abu, 20. Those arrested are: Gabriel Rilwan, Sikiru, Abayomi, Alabi, Idowu Bisola, Hawaii, ” Three sharp cutlasses, a fetish calabash suspected to be the charm, and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from them. The suspects were immediately charged to Court and have been remanded in prison custody. In another development, Elkan said the police also arrested two suspected traffic robbers at the mushin area of the State.
He said, anti-crime patrol team from Mushin Police Station led by Inspector Dada Akawu, intercepted a Honda motorcycle with registration number AKM 300 VJ, red in colour, along Ogun Ogun Street Mushin. The motorcycle was conveying four persons suspected to be members of a gang of armed robbers terrorising Mushin and environ. The gang mostly operated on a motorcycle for easy access to escape routes after the operation. The gang was responsible for a series of robberies reported in the area with the same mode of operation.
” They took advantage of traffic situations and dispossessed unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables such as handsets, laptops, bags, and money. The rider refused to stop and was given a hot chase. The leader of the gang Taofeek was arrested while others escaped through different directions to crowded areas along Akala, Idi-Oro. The motorcycle was recovered. One bag containing a locally made pistol, one expended cartridge, 11 live cartridges, a jacket decorated with charms were recovered.
He said the Commissioner of Police has directed the Special Anti Robbery Squad ( SARS), to launch manhunt for other fleeing members of the gang
