Operation Puff Adder of the Nigeria Police has recovered a cache of Illegal arms Smuggled into the Country from Libya.
Force public relations officer ( FPRO), Frank Mba said thousands of rifles and ammunition smuggled into Nigeria From Libya and Burkina Faso through the Benin Republic and the Niger Republic were impounded by IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT), led by DCP Abba Kyari.
Mba said 6000 rounds of Ak47 ammunition and several Ak47 rifles and Pistols were recovered. According to him, the suspects have confessed that they were Importing and selling the arms and ammunition to Kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminals in Nigeria.
Also arrested by IRT were 38 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers. Mba said the suspects would soon be charged to the Court.
