Police rescue 3 women abducted by herdsmen in Enugu The Enugu State

Police command yesterday said it has rescued three women allegedly abducted by Fulani herdsmen along Agbani - Ugbawka Road on Friday. Suspected herdsmen had attacked a commercial bus on Agbani -Ugbawka, Nara Road; robbed the occupants and abducted three women from the vehicle.

Police command yesterday said it has rescued three women allegedly abducted by Fulani herdsmen along Agbani – Ugbawka Road on Friday. Suspected herdsmen had attacked a commercial bus on Agbani -Ugbawka, Nara Road; robbed the occupants and abducted three women from the vehicle.

The attack was reported to the Agbani Police Division and the divisional police officer quickly dispatched operatives to go after the abductors. A statement by the state police public relations officer, Ebere Amaraizu, stated that the command has commenced an investigation into the incident. Amaraizu said three women abducted by some hoodlums had been rescued and have since been reunited with their families. Amaraizu said, “the Enugu state police command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the attack of a commercial bus and abduction of some victims by hoodlums along Agbani- Ugbawka road.

“It was, however, gathered that yet to be identified hoodlums had on June 14, along Agbani – Ugvawka road allegedly attacked a commercial bus and its occupants. The hoodlums abducted three female persons after allegedly robbing the said bus and took them into the bush.

“It was further gathered that the operatives of the operation Puff Adder acting on the directives of the commissioner of police, Mr. Sulaiman Balarabe, promptly raced to the scene and embarked on aggressive combing of the bush which forced the hoodlums to abandon their victims. No ransom was demanded. However, no injury was sustained by the victims who have already re-united with their families.”
