A Catholic Priest, Reverend father Gerard Ndakat Tanko has called on Nigerians, especially leaders to emulate the leadership style of Jesus who really practiced what he preached.

Tanko who, gave the admonition Sunday, during the feast of Jesus the divine Master at Society of Saint Paul Catholic church, Obawole Estate, Iju, Lagos, said during Jesus’ earthly sojourn, he did not only preach about love, compassion, and forgiveness but practiced them.
He said: ” Today in history, Jesus our divine Master lambasted the hypocrites whom he accused of not practicing what they preached. Hypocrites are those that talk big but do not work the talk.
They blow hot, yet their actions are cold. If there is a gap between what you say and what you do, you are one of the hypocrites that Jesus was addressing. If there is a contradiction between what you say and what you do, you are a hypocrite.
Hypocrites have the voice of Jacob, but the hands of Esau. Let what you preach reflect on your actions.
” Jesus talked the talk and worked the talk. You found Jesus forgiving sins. He even pleaded to his father to forgive those who contributed to his death. This was in addition to his demonstration of love and compassion to the sick before he finally died on the cross for our sake. There is no way he contradicted himself.
” For the Pharisees and hypocrites, whatever they do is to blow their trumpets and draw attention. Everything they do is solely to attract attention. When they come to Church, they wear micro skirts and clothes.
Hypocrites wear skimpy things to attract attention. If you dress naked to the Church of God, be warned because those who Satan used in the Bible were those who dressed naked.
If you dress in seductive attire to attract attention, you are under the manipulation of the devil. Many people are missing it in the name of fashion. Can you give me one reason anyone would dress in an unholy way to the church of God ?.
” Do you pray and shout to convince people that you are a Christian? If you do so, you are a hypocrite.
The hypocrites like front seats in Church and shout when they pray to attract attention. While praying, they shout on top of their voices and command Holy Ghost fire to scatter their enemies. The holy ghost is not a missile or man-made weapon of destruction. Holy Spirit is love and compassion.
God is not interested in the death of a sinner so, stop commanding God to kill your enemies or your neighbor, rather pray for their salvation and not destruction.
“Again, the hypocrites are those who are mad for titles. The hypocrites like to be called the teacher, Dr, Reverend. They are angry when they are addressed as Mr or Mrs. You must put Chief, Dr, Right Hon. How can a person bear Dr. High chief, Hon?
This is hypocritical. It is funny that some priests also like to be addressed as, Very Reverend Dr. Pastor. You may be a king, Eze, Igwe, Alhaji, it is immaterial. What matters is how you use your position to assist people.
What matters is how you discharge your duty as a leader. Are you a father or a mother, how do you discharge your duty as parents?
let everyone have a change of heart and emulate the virtue of our divine master who was truthful while he was with us. The moment everyone starts practicing what he or she preaches, the country will be at peace” he concluded.
