There was pandemonium yesterday at the ‘A’ Divisional Police Station in Ughelli, Delta State, where the body of a 27-year- old man, Edafe, was dumped by angry friends and relatives.
Edafe was allegedly hacked to death by his pregnant wife over suspicion of infidelity.
The incident happened at Ekrejebor axis of the Town, where the estranged wife and mother of one allegedly unleashed a machete on her husband for refusing to sleep at home the previous night.
A local source said after inflicting machete cuts on Edafe, and realising that he was breathless, the embattled wife ran to ‘A’ division ostensibly to take cover.
“The woman was angry that her husband did not spend the night at home and after his return, she macheted him in one of his hands and abdomen.
“She ran to Ughelli ‘A’ division to report herself while friends of her husband rushed him to Central Hospital Ughelli where he was confirmed dead.
“Angered by his death, the friends wheeled and dumped his corpse at the entrance of Ughelli ‘A’ division which led to sporadic shooting by the police to disperse the teeming crowd,” a source stated.
The source further revealed that Edafe who bought a new car to surprise his wife was also planning to park at his new house next week.
Acting Delta State Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident.
