Rapists in Lagos may serve 25 years jail term in Lagos State if the House of Assembly will heed to the recommendation of Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode .
The governor has recommended a 25 years imprisonment for offenders of sexual abuse in the state.
Ambode said that sexual abuse, particularly rape, should not be seen as a minor offence ,therefore, offenders should be given stiffer penalty.
Ambode who spoke after leading a walk on violence against women at Alausa, Ikeja,said he would do his best to influence the law as rape was worse than armed robbery .
He warned men against violence against women as his administration abhors intimidation against females. He also cautioned people against all forms of violence and intimidation of house helps and children.
