Super Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr says Striker Odion Ighalo is vital to the Super Eagles winning the Africa Cup of Nations this year in Egypt.
Ighalo has been in scintillating form for the National team since poor showing at the Russia 2018 World Cup where he vital chances against Argentina.
The Chinese based Striker, however redeemed himself by scoring six goals in three games to lead the Eagles back to the African biggest Football tournament after missing out in the last two editions.
Ighalo was unable to secure his desire move back to Europe from his relegated Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai and the Eagles Coach feels not playing in Europe has nothing to do with his performance.
”Look playing in China has nothing to do with performance. Ighalo practically qualified us for the Nation Cup despite playing in Chinese Super League. My prayer is for him to remain in top form for the AFCON.
He is a key to us winning the AFCON in Egypt which is my target. He has courage and speed which is very important in any competition”. Rohr said.
