Rohr Deny Fixing Eagles AFCON Loss To Madagascar

Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr has dismissed an allegations that he asked his players to deliberately lose to Madagascar at the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

After beating Guinea and Burundi in their first two matches , the three time African Champions were stunned 2-0 by Madagascar in their final Group game, a result that saw the tiny Nation finished topahead of Nigeria in the standing.

The result however was not acceptable for the supporters of the team, as many called for the sack of the Franco-German tactician, while accusing the team of losing the match deliberately because of his ties with Madagascar.

Reflecting on the issue, Rohr who is set to lead the Eagles out against Brazil in Singapore, hinted that the criticisms wereunfortunate, before denying claims that he favoured Madagascar at the expense of his employers.

Some people really wanted the title, but of course we didn’t win,There was a lack of trifles and the success hung by the thread.

“But some criticisms can not be taken seriously, Bad tongues have claimed that we deliberately lost to Madagascar because my wife came from there ,That’s absurd” Rohr said.

Rohr led the team to a third place finish at the tournament after beating Tunisia 1-0.
