ROUND-UP: Onazi Feared Injured In Trabzonspor Win; Iheanacho, Osimhen, Awaziem Benched

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi played for 28 minutes in Trabzonspor’s 4-0 win over Kayserispor in a Turkish Super Lig clash on Saturday.

The 25-year-old was taken off for Ugur Demirok due to a suspected injury. The game was his 18th start of the season for the club. He has scored twice in the league, providing one assist.

Nigeria defender Ola Aina made his 41st start of the season for Hull City who defeated 10-man Queens Park Rangers 4-0 on Saturday in an English Championship clash.

Nedum Onuoha was sent off in the 90th minute of the encounter for QPR.

Also on Saturday, Nigeria forward Sone Aluko played all 90 minutes in his 35th start in the English Championship for Reading who defeated Preston North End 1-0. He has featured in 38 English Championship games this season.

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was benched in Leicester City’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle in Saturday’s English Premier League fixture. It was the 11th time this season he was benched in the EPL.

Iheanacho has made 15 EPL appearances this season, scoring just one goal. Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was suspended for the clash.

In Germany, Nigeria defender Leon Balogun was yellow carded in the 44th minute of his 14th Bundesliga appearance for 10-man Mainz 05 who forced FC Cologne to a 1 – 1 draw at the RheinEnergie Stadium.

Giulio Donati was sent off in the 89th minute of the encounter.

Balogun’s compatriot Anthony Ujah was brought on in the 88th minute of the draw for Levin Mete Oztunali.

At Schwarzwald Stadium, Nigerian youngster Victor Osimhen was an unused substitute for Wolfsburg who defeated Freiburg 2-0. Osimhen has made 11 appearances for Wolfsburg this season.

In France, Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem was an unused substitute in Nantes’ 2-1 defeat away to Monaco. Awaziem has made 19 Ligue 1 appearances for Nantes who are eighth in the Ligue 1 this season.

Former Nigeria Olympic team striker, Umar Sadiq, played for 73 minutes before being replaced for Mitchell te Vrede in NAC Breda’s 1-0 win over Vitesse.

Sadiq has made nine Eredivisie appearances since joining on loan and he has scored four goals.

In Scotland, Nigeria defender Efe Ambrose played for 71 minutes for Hibernian who played out a 1-1 draw with Ross County.

In Northern Cyprus, Adewole Oladimeji was on target for Dumlupinar who defeated Esentepe Kurtulus SK 3-1. The 19-year-old provided two assists and scored his side’s third goal in the encounter.
