The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an armed robbery suspect who attempted to shoot a commercial sex worker for not reducing her price for a round of sex. The suspect was arrested at the Empire Hotel, Suru-Lere area of the State.
It was gathered that the sex robber, Peter Arinola, had threatened to shoot the prostitute if she failed to reduce the price of sex for him. The sex worker raised the alarm when Arinola brought out a pistol and attempted to shoot her which attracted other sex workers and their pimps.
Arinola was overpowered and handed over to the Police.
A witness, Wasiu (aka General), said:” I don’t know how much is a round of sex that the man was threatening to kill her If she failed to agree to his price. He has been doing it, but his cup is full. When Agnes raised the alarm, we rushed to the place and he was really armed with a gun, but because we were many, he couldn’t fire, so we overpowered him, seized the gun, and called the police”.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said:
“Police operatives attached to Surulere Division have arrested one Peter Arinola, at Empire Area, Surulere, with an English Pistol while he was negotiating and harassing one lady “prostitute”
for sex.
“The suspect intended to use the pistol to intimidate the lady to agree to his terms and the amount he wanted to pay, but the lady insisted on a certain amount of money. Peter brought out the pistol and wanted to force the lady to sex. The lady raised the alarm and Peter was overpowered and arrested by the people around the brothel.
“The police swung into action and further investigation revealed that the suspect used to assist an armed robber (name withheld) to keep the pistol for operations. The police later recovered five rounds of ammunition in the room of the lady during the course of their investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the owner of the pistol and suspected armed robber, who is at large, be apprehended by all means and brought to book”.
