Shorunmu reacts to CHAN Eagles And Nigerian Clubs Failure On The Continent

Former Nigerian International, Ike Shorunmu has hinted that the current dismal state of the Nigeria professional football league is one of the reasons the home based Eagles failed to qualify for 2020 CHAN.

In an exclusive interview with brila.net, the former Besiktas of Turkey opined that the buck of country’s national team players should be from the local league, but the poor standard of the league has made things more complicated.

He also revealed that the recent failure of the Super Eagles Team B and Nigerian Clubs on the continent can be traced to the state of the domestic league.

“I’m disturbed because if you must build a team , you need to build it from home, precisely from our professional league” Shorunmu told brila.net

“And when the league is not kicking off like this, that’s why we see the home base Eagles struggled, we have a lot of problems with our clubs on the continent.”

“Let’s just hope they can do something about it so that the league can start.” He concluded.
