South Africa’s Percy Tau has joined Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion on a four-year deal, but will proceed on loan to “develop and get better”.
Tau joined the Seagulls from Mamelodi Sundowns, where he had won two PSL titles and the CAF Champions League.
Both clubs announced the 24 year-old’s departure and arrival on social media on Friday.

Tau said about the move,“Going out on loan is always good to help a player develop and get better. It’s new for me to be in Europe, and I’ll get to work on myself and a few things that I need to improve.
“I’m hoping to get a better understanding of the game from playing there. It’s a different approach to what we’re used to in South Africa. It’s exciting football.”
The South African might have African company and the chance to play alongside Nigeria International Leon Balogun and Cameroon’s Gaetan Bong and Mali’s Yves Bissouma if he makes an early return to the Falmer Stadium.
Nigerians will particularly remember the 2017/18 South African player of the year after he match-winning goal against the Super Eagles – South Africa’s first victory against Nigeria in a competitive game – during a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
