Sub Osimhen Fires Blanks In Wolfsburg Draw, Nwakali Loses With Maastricht

By James Agberebi:

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was in action for 10-man Wolfsburg who were held to a 0-0 draw by visiting Augsburg who also had a player sent off in the German Bundesliga on Friday night.

Osimhen was introduced with 10 minutes remaining in the game which was his 12th league appearance of the season without a goal.

The draw means Wolfsburg are unbeaten in their last three league games (one win, two draws).

Felix Uduokhai was sent off for Wolfsburg in the 86th while Jan Moravek had earlier been sent off for Augsburg on 54 minutes.

Wolfsburg are now 14th on 30 points, three points away from the relegation play-off spot in the 18-team league table.

And in the Netherlands’ second-tier, Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali, on loan from Arsenal, featured for 90 minutes as MVV Maastricht lost 3-1 away to Jong AZ Alkmaar.

The defeat halted Maastricht’s back-to-back league wins as they are now ninth on 49 points in the league table.

The game was Nwakali’s 14th league appearance for Maastricht so far this season, with three goals to his name.
