Former Super Eagles winger, Garba Lawal says the Gernot Rohr led boys must be ready to face any team at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Lawal insists that there won’t be a hiding place for the Eagles who are returning to the African biggest football showpiece for the first time since winning the competition in 2013.

“We have to be ready to face strong teams either it is Senegal or Egypt,”

“We must not be afraid to play any team, Egypt, for instance, may have Mohamed Salah but we also have Ahmed Musa and other good players in our team.

“The way we prepare that is how they prepare too. If you want to be the best, you have to be prepared to beat strong teams.”

“So the most important thing is to prepare well for the tournament with good friendlies.”

The Atlanta 96 Olympic Gold medalist, however, added that the country can win its fourth African title in Egypt if the players display their qualities and potential at the tournament.

“Although it is too early to judge the level of our preparation, we have started with the qualifiers and the friendlies played,” he continued.

“All our players play week-in-week-out. We just have to believe that we will do well and win the tournament.”

The draw ceremony for the tournament will be held on Friday in the city of Gaza in Egypt.
