Super Eagles players’ round up for the weekend

Ahead of this weekends action across various leagues in Europe, we x-ray what to expect from some of the Super Eagles players.

Alex Iwobi
Everton suffered their ninth Premier League defeat of the campaign in Wednesday’s 5-2 defeat by Liverpool, which put them in the relegation zone.

Things don’t get easier for the Toffees, as they play host to Frank Lampard’s energetic Chelsea in Saturday’s lunch-time kick-off.

Iwobi was, arguably, Everton’s best player at Anfield in midweek, and the attacking midfielder ought to start at Goodison Park.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi
Iheanacho was an unused substitute for Leicester City against Watford in midweek, but his impact in last weekend’s 2-1 turnaround versus Everton was remarkable.

It remains to be seen if the forward will feature at Aston Villa, but will likely be called upon by Brendan Rodgers if the game is going awry.

Ndidi, by contrast, is a certainty to feature at the base of the midfield as the second-placed Foxes chase an eighth successive league victory.

Semi Ajayi
The centre-back is expected to feature for a West Bromwich Albion side chasing their sixth Championship win on the spin against Swansea City.

The Swans are unbeaten in nine away games this term, and won’t be going down easily at the Hawthorns.

Whatever result they get against the Welsh outfit, Slaven Bilic’s troops are guaranteed to end the weekend inside the promotion places.

Samuel Chukwueze
Villarreal’s poor run of results has seen them fail to win in five league games, with three losses in that time.

Chukwueze came off the bench in last week’s 2-1 defeat at Valencia to have a good game, and might start in Friday night’s encounter against Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone’s team are equally struggling for wins too, so the Yellow Submarine do have a chance of claiming a positive result at El Madrigal.

William Troost-Ekong
The Super Eagles captain has conceded penalties in Udinese’s defeats by Sampdoria and Lazio, and will want to improve on recent performances against Napoli.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are in even worse shape, with their recent form showing no wins in eight fixtures in all competitions.

Given both sides aren’t in the best form, it’ll be interesting to see how they perform at the Dacia Arena.

Victor Osimhen
Lille picked up a slender 1-0 win at Olympique Lyonnais to record their first away win of the campaign. The Great Danes rose to fourth in the table after their victory, and they’ll fancy themselves against one-win-in-five Stade Brestois.

Osimhen has scored eight times in 15 appearances this season, making him the danger man to Brestois. Christophe Galtier’s men have the second-best home record in the league, so don’t expect a straightforward result!

Moses Simon
Simon played poorly in Nantes 2-0 loss against Paris-Saint Germain, but ought to feature when the Canaries host Dijon at Stade de la Beaujoire.

The visitors have been atrocious on their travels this season (six defeats in eight games) which makes ninth-placed Nantes pre-match favourites.
