Super Falcons Coach, Thomas Dennerby has denied reports that about to dump the team few days to the Africa Women championship starting in Ghana this month.
Reports in some sections of local media has it that the Dane is on verge of dumping the most successful African Women football team over unpaid eight month salaries .
The Coach however denied the claim and reiterated his commitment to the Nigeria Women national team.
“I am in shock over the news that I have resigned my position as the coach of the team [Super Falcons],” Dennerby told Goal.
“I heard about the rumour too and was surprised because I never made such a decision. I am busy here [in Abidjan] with the team’s preparations and at no point spoke to anyone about resigning.”
The 59-year-old, who was appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation in January to replaced former coach Florence Omagbemi said he never threatened the Nigeria Football Federation he will quit the team.
“I never threatened to quit the team and do not have such plans on my mind. At the moment, we need maximum concentration for our preparations and any distraction now will do us no good.”
Meanwhile the Super Falcons will take on Asec Memosa U16 male side in Abidjan as they step up preparation for the tournament which kick-off in a few days.
