Super Falcons Head Coach Boasts “We Can Play against any team”

Nigeria’s world cup campaign over the years have been characterized by heartbreaks and successive teams not living up to their potentials, something Swede tactician Thomas Dennerby is convinced he has managed to tame.

Dennerby, who is the Falcons first foreign handler, will guide the team to their 8th appearance at the Women’s World Cup; in a tricky group with former world champion Norway, a highly South Korea side and host nation France.

Three years with the Sweden national team and a wealth of experience in Women’s football, Dennerby,59, believes he has instilled in the Nigerian girls a mentality – the World Cup mentality.

The Swede recently addressed questions about his team’s readiness ahead of the tournament.

“The team now has confidence to play against any team, whichever continent they come from. That is the benefit of the several training camps and friendly tournaments we have had this year,” he told thenff.com

“I definitely don’t think that it’s some kind of mental block when we lost to Canada in Spain. We know the reason why we lost the game and the biggest lessons are not to do tactics that the team have not practiced in training, and also to stop playing only when the referee’s whistle goes for the end of the game.”
