Taekwondo hails the Ministry of youth and sports for support

Technical Director of the Nigerian Taekwondo Federation, Chika Chukwumerije has expressed his delight with team Nigeria performance at the just concluded African Qualification tournament for the Tokyo Olympics.

During the qualifying series, Elizabeth Anyanacho successfully secured a ticket for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics games.

The 2008 Olympics bronze medalist also expressed sadness as the other athletes of the 4-man team Nigeria failed to qualify for the Olympics.

“It’s sad because the three other athletes did very well, especially African Champions Okumose Benjamin who had literally beaten the world champion in the +68kg only to slip up in the last 10secs, also Ruth Chinazum and Ifeoluwa Ajayi gave it their best and wanted to secure an Olympic ticket but it’s sports sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.”

Chukwumerije also appreciated the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare for the ministry’s support during the qualifiers to the Federation.
