U20 AFCON: Flying Eagles a win away from picking World Cup Ticket, they face South Africa Next

Yahaya Nafizi and Maxwell Effiom inspired Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Burundi and send the Flying Eagles to the summit of group A in the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

Nafizi, who was Nigeria’s second highest goal scorer in the qualifiers, netted the opener 10 minutes after the restart, helping to calm nerves despite a dominant first half performance.

That goal surely inspired the Flying Eagles, as 16 minutes later Maxwell Effiom doubled the lead and it also saw them take full control of the game; with goalkeeper Wale Oremade hardly trouble by Burundi.

The win over the Burundi now means Aigbogun’s men are a win away from picking a 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup.

Earlier, South Africa forced hosts Niger to a 1-1 result and thus gives Nigeria the advantage of picking the semi-final ticket if they get a win against South Africa on Tuesday.
