Students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have protested the killing of a medical doctor said to be working with Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Stephen Urueye.

The young doctor was said to have graduated from UNILAG on Wednesday .

The house doctor was on Thursday night accosted by armed robbers along Idi Araba road, Surulere where LUTH is situated. His assailants reportedly stabbed him and made away with his property.

Sources close to Urueye said on Friday that he was taken to LUTH on Thursday night after the attack.

Urueye died on Friday morning after doctors were unable to save him.

The protesters were seen with placards having various inscriptions and calling for justice for the victim.

The protesters condemned what describe as frequent robberies around LUTH and environ.

The police in Lagos have not made an official statement on the matter, however, Lagosians are bothered about incessant robberies, killings of innocent citizens by police in the past one month.

John Madu, a youth leader said:” Lagos is facing many armed robbery attacks. Robbers and other criminals relocated from the State ,but now they have come back.Let the police high command do something urgent . Traffic robbers have returned . The government should also repair the roads that cause gridlock. The gridlock is helping the armed robbers to commit the dastardly act unchallenged by the police. We are tired of incissant killings  “.However ,the State Police Spokesman DSP Bala Elkana said two persons have been invited for questioning in connection with the killing.
