Union Berlin manager Urs Fischer was full of praises for Taiwo Awoniyi after the Nigerian striker delivered a man-of-the-match display to help the club to a 2-1 comeback win at FSV Mainz.
The first of Awoniyi’s two goals sent him into the Union Berlin record books as the Iron Ones’ 100th Bundesliga goal.
Awoniyi’s double at Mainz takes his tally in the Bundesliga to five goals, behind Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski (7), Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland (7), and Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick (6).
