Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho has been charged over comments he made in Portuguese to a television camera after his side’s recent win over Newcastle.
Mourinho faces the possibility of a touchline ban after being charged for using foul language moments after United’s 3-2 come-from-behind victory.
The Football Association, which apparently used a lip-reader, has determined the comments constituted “abusive, insulting or improper language”.
The match had been billed as critical to Mourinho’s future at the club. He has been under pressure all season for failing to get the most out of United’s multi-million-pound squad which dwarfs that of most other clubs.
He has until 6 pm on Friday to respond to the charge.
