The United States of America has deported 34 Nigerians over crimes ranging from drugs possession and breach of the country’s immigration laws.
Those deported comprised 32 males and two females.
They arrived Nigeria on a chartered Omni Air International aircraft with Registration Number: W342AX, which touched down the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 2.30pm.
Spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command, DSP Joseph Alabi, confirmed the deportation of the Nigerians to Cornerstone news and added that the deportees were received by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and the Nigeria Police Force.
“At about 2.30pm, we received 34 Nigerians who were brought back from the United States. Twenty-five of the deportees were alleged to have committed criminal offenses; one was allegedly involved in narcotics while others were alleged to have committed immigration-related offenses,” said Alabi.
He also said the deportees were profiled by the relevant authorities and were allowed to depart to their various destinations.
But, some of the deportees said they were illegally returned to Nigeria.
