WAFU Cup: How Super Falcons thrash Burkina Faso 5-1 – Madu reveals

Super Falcons assistant coach Maureen Madu has revealed the inspiration behind the 5-1 thrashing of Burkina Faso women national team in her group stage opener at the ongoing WAFU B cup of nations.

Madu said in a chat with www.brila.net that the massive victory over the Burkina babes was the Falcon’s way of making its intention clear that the girls are not in Ivory coast to underrate any opponent.
She added that aside the desire to win was also the necessity to win the first game at the tournament.
“We are not here to underrate any country because everybody prepared very well. We are focused on ourselves and improve on what we didn’t do the last time.
“We gave everything we have just to make sure we win our first game against Burkina Faso because the first match is very important in every competition.”
Nigeria will next play Niger in the second group game before ending with Mali.
