Walcott Ends Goal Drought As Everton Edge Out Newcastle

Everton moved up to the eighth position in the English Premier League table after a hard fought 1-0 win over Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Monday night.

Theo Walcott scored in the 51st minute to hand the Toffees their 12th win of the season.

Everton now have 45 points from 35 games with three games left to play, while Newcastle United occupy the 10th position with four games left to play.

The Toffees created the best chances in the first half but Phil Jagielka, Walcott and Cenk Tosun failed to take them.

In the second half, Walcott punished Newcastle United for poor marking, wriggling past two defenders before firing in a shot past the goalkeeper for the opener.

The goal ended his nine-game goal drought for the Toffees.

Newcastle had a chance to draw level in the 87th minute when Jagielka handled the ball in the box but referee Bobby Madley waved the calls for a penalty away.
