Kunle, who was arrested by the Inspector – General of Police (IGP), Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, also confessed that his gang inflicted serious machete injuries on victims. Kunle who claimed that he was the gang leader of the gang while speaking with Journalists at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, alongside five of his gang members said :

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, ordered the arrest, said that the police received information from members of the public on the activities of the gang.
Muazu said that based on the information, detectives from IRT led by CSP. Philip Rieninwa and those from the State Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) led by CSP Peter Gana moved in and arrested the receiver of the gang’s stolen goods.
He said that it was the receiver who took the police to arrest members of the syndicate.
