iOS 11.4 Problems
The iOS 11.4 update is causing problems for some iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users. Some of these problems are brand new, others have carried over from the previous versions of iOS 11.
iPhone and iPad users have run into various iOS 11.4 installation problems including errors in iTunes and frozen downloads. If your iOS 11.4 download gets stuck, hard reset your phone or tablet. This typically resolves the issue.
iOS 11.4 users are also reporting heavy battery drain, AirPlay issues, Touch ID problems, abnormal amounts of lag, problems with sound, missing battery indicators, and problems with various first and third-party apps. We’re also hearing about issues with the iPhone X’s Face ID.
A report from MacRumors reveals a microphone issue impacting select iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models running iOS 11.3.1 and iOS 11.3.
Some iPhone 7 users are seeing a grayed-out speaker button during phone calls and some claim they’re unable to be heard during regular phone calls and FaceTime video calls.
Apple is reportedly aware of the issue, but it’s unclear if the company will fix the issue with a software update. For now, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users dealing with these issues are encouraged to get in contact with Apple customer service and escalate the issue to a senior AppleCare advisor.

I downloaded iOS 11.4 and still have the issue unfortunately 🙁 Everytime I charge my phone to 100% battery the bug is triggered. I have to power my phone off and back on and it’s fine until I charge it again..

@AppleSupport the latest update iOS 11.4 has a major battery bug. Watched Battery percentage dropped 13% in literally less than 2 minutes.

@AppleSupport @beoplay Are you aware of an issue causing some (all?) Bluetooth headphones to produce very loud popping on R channel when playing audio on iOS (incl 11.4) recorded using stereo / binaural microphones?
Same audio with the same headphones play normally from Macs.

How to Fix iOS 11.4 Problems
If you start running into trouble on iOS 11.0, iOS 11.0.1, iOS 11.0.2, iOS 11.0.3, iOS 11.1, iOS 11.1.1, iOS 11.1.2, iOS 11.2, iOS 11.2.1, iOS 11.2.2, iOS 11.2.5, iOS 11.2.6, iOS 11.3, iOS 11.3.1, or iOS 11.4 there’s no need to panic. You can manually fix most issues from the comfort of a computer chair or couch.

If you’re unable to find a fix for your issue in those guides, you should go to Apple’s discussion forums for help. If Apple’s forums aren’t helpful, you can get in contact with Apple Support via Twitter or via the company’s website.
If Apple’s online support can’t help, you should schedule an appointment to see a Genius at your local Apple Store. They should be able to diagnose your issue and provide you with a fix or a replacement depending on your warranty.
You Can’t Downgrade from iOS 11.4
If you run into trouble on iOS 11.4 you no longer have the option to downgrade to an older version of iOS 11.
Apple’s no longer signing on iOS 11.3.1 which means you can no longer use a loophole and downgrade from iOS 11.4 in an effort to improve your device’s performance.
Unfortunately the company’s also stopped signing on iOS 11.3, iOS 11.2.6, iOS 11.2.5, iOS 11.2.2, iOS 11.2, iOS 11.1.2, iOS 11.1.1, iOS 11.1, iOS 11.0.3, iOS 11.0.2, iOS 11.0.1, iOS 11.0, and iOS 10.3.3. Once you move to iOS 11.4, there’s no going back.

What’s Next
Apple’s confirmed an iOS 11.4.1 update, but there’s a much larger update in testing right now.
The company’s released an iOS 12 beta for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and the upgrade comes with a suite of new features and a focus on reliability and performance. This should be music to the ears of those who have struggled on iOS 11.
Beta software typically isn’t a viable alternative to official software, but those of you struggling on iOS 11.4 could try the iOS 12 beta and see if it helps. The final release won’t be out until the fall.
As for iOS 11.4.1, it’ll be out sometime before the final version of iOS 12 this fall. If you’re struggling on iOS 11.4, you’ll want to monitor the update as it passes through beta.
