Yobo vows to work with Rohr to achieve more Eagles success

New Super Eagles assistant coach, Joseph Yobo said he’s looking forward to working with his new boss Gernot and he’s optimistic their time together will be successful.

Yobo who captained the Super Eagles to the third African cup of Nations crown in 2013, was appointed as the replacement for Imama Amapakabo, back in January.

The suspension of football activities across the globe due to the coronavirus pandemic has prevented Yobo from resuming his new position with the national team, but the former Everton captain revealed he has been in constant discussions with his boss, Gernot Rohr.

“We have been discussing on the phone. I have not met him personally and he does not know me personally but we have spoken to each other on phone. We have already discussed some ideas and already have some ideas of what he wants he wants.’ he said.

Yobo said he’s looking towards working as one of the assistants to the Franco-German tactician who has been mandated to win the next African cup of Nations after signing a contract extension that will see him remain with the Super Eagles until 2022.

“I am only going to be one of his assistants. That means I am going to work with other people in the backroom staff and I will try the best I can. We will all work together to succeed and I will do the best I can to make the team better.” He said.
