Gunmen kidnap Catholic priest in Anambra

Gunmen yesterday shot four traditionalists who were performing some rites for a slain man, Prince Yinusa Okunloye, in Osun State.

The traditionalists sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack by the gunmen.

Yinusa was killed by gunmen suspected to be cultists on Saturday at his residence in Ofatedo, Egbedore Local Government Area of the state.

He was shot in the chest after an argument with the suspected cultists who attacked him on Saturday midnight.

It was gathered that the traditionalists were performing rituals for the deceased who was said to be the son of Olofa of Ofatedo, Oba Abdullahi Okunlola when the gunmen stormed the venue and shot them.

Sources disclosed that four traditionalists sustained injuries during the attack with one of them in critical condition.

“A member of the community called the police and the gunmen were chased away. But, one of the traditionalists was injured seriously and his condition was critical,” the source added.

The spokesperson of Osun State Police command, SP, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

She said, “security has been beefed up in the community, while the injured traditionalists have been taken to the hospital for proper treatment.”
