Former Eagles striker charges Nigeria home-based players on hardwork

Former International, Julius Aghahowa has called on the players in the Nigeria Professional Football League to work harder in order to earn a chance to play whenever called into the Nigeria National team.

The former Wigan forward said urged the domestic league players not to despair for not getting playing time yet at the senior national team stressing that been called up alone is a recognition of how good they are among the pool of other players plying their trade in the domestic league.

Aghahowa said in a chat with Brila FM said that rather than feel bad, such players should simply keep working hard so as to be able to adequately impress because of a day that the opportunity to play will suddenly present itself.

Meanwhile, Defender Kenneth Omeruo has assured Nigeria will take the fight to South Africa when they Eagles face Bafana Bafana in the second-leg of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group E qualifying match and it will be like another “final”.

South Africa host the second-leg at the FNB Stadium after an imperial first-leg performance where they knocked Nigeria 2-0 in Uyo, a result that still hangs in the air as a bad smell Omeruo suggests.
