2019 AFCON: Gbenga Arokoyo believes Eagles will make Nigerians proud in Egypt

With the senior national men’s team, the Super Eagles looking ahead to the fixtures against Seychelles and Egypt matches as they look to prepare adequately for this year’s AFCON tournament, Kalmar FF of Sweden defender Gbenga Arokoyo has said he strongly believes that the present crop of players can make Nigerians proud.

Speaking with www.brila.net, Arokoyo added that every Nigerian wants the team to succeed, and they will do that, especially with coach Gernot Rohr.

“The coach and the players know what to do to make the country proud, and I strongly believe that with our support, they will make the country proud and put us in the right position, both in Africa and on the world stage,” said Arokoyo.

Arokoyo, who was a member of the 2011 Caf U20 Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad under coach John Obuh, has been overlooked by coaches since he moved from Kwara United to Europe in 2012.

He established himself at Sweden’s Mjallby before he joined Turkish outfit Gaziantepspor in 2014 and finally got his chance to play for his country at the senior level after he was included in a list of 26 by then interim coach Salisu Yusuf in April of 2016.
