Dream Team VII Coach Imama shares pains of U-23 team players selection

Nigeria U-23 team coach, Imama Amapakabo has shed more light on the difficult times experienced by the coaching crew in getting the best players to feature for Nigeria as preparation for the double-header qualifier against Libya looms.
Imama, who won the Nigerian top league title with rangers International noted that his crew has been very careful in selecting players and several discrepancies led to the exit of some players.
“We try to look at prospects that we have everywhere so it’s possible to still be on the look out for new players but don’t forget this camp started late and more or less had to out a team together. Truth is we have a fundamental problem which is lack of data.
“A lot of players have age discrepancies because when you try to reconcile their age with what is on the passport, there is no uniformity in data.
Hence we have to look at players that came through the ranks to see how to put a team together. In the end, we should be able to put together a solid team.”
Nigeria is set to face Libya’s U-23 team in the first leg of the Africa U-23 Nations Cup championship qualifier on march 20.
