Ighalo To Lead Super Eagles Attack Against Guinea

Odion Ighalo will start Super Eagles second Group B game against Guinea on Wednesday, the technical adviser of the team Gernot Rohr revealed.

Ighalo has struggled with injury recently with his Chinese Super side Shanghai Shenhua, before teaming up with his country ahead of the African Cup of Nations.

The 30-year-old who scored seven goals in the qualifiers was left on bench in Super Eagles’ first game in this year’s tournament against Burundi, but he did came off the bench to score the only goal of the game.

However, Ahead of the important clash with the National Elephants, Rohr confirmed he will unleashed the former Watford man on Paul Put’s side .

“Definitely, Ighalo is very fit and he will start the game against Guinea,” Rohr told media at the Alexandria Stadium.

“It is a very important match because if we win this game, we are already through, so it will be a decisive game for us and for them,” he continued.

“Even if they (Guinea) lose, they still have a chance to be ranked among the best third placed teams.

Rohr however says , injury to some players is giving him tactical headache and hinted that Samuel Kalu has been declared fit.

“My problem at the moment is recover the injured players – we have two full back [Jamilu] Collins and [Abdullahi] Shehu – because that is my tactical problem at the moment.

“And the other good news is that [Samuel] Kalu is 100% fit and could play a part in the game.” he concluded.
