Nigerian midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu says former Brazil international Robinho has shown him love since he joined Turkish Super Lig side Istanbul Basaksehir on a season-long loan from Egyptian club Pyramids FC.
The 22-year-old Captain of Nigeria’s U-23 moved to the former Turkish champions following his six months loan spell with Caykur Rizespor in the second part of the 2018/19 season.
Azubuike who has been capped at the senior level for Nigeria was warmly welcome by his new teammates at Basaksehir including Robinho, whom he said loves him because he is from the same country as Okocha.
“Robinho is my new best friend.
“He adores Jay Jay Okocha because he is the same kind of player. So, he likes me because I’m a Nigerian like Jay Jay.” Azubuike said.
Azubuike will hope to be in action, when Istanbul Basaksehir will kick off their 2019/20 camping away against , Yeni Malatyaspor.
